A section of political leaders hailing from Busia district have expressed fears about the success of the ongoing population and housing census.

The group allege that much as the exercise is already on, the local population are still green about the government program yet time is running out.

The group attribute the information gape to failure by government to involve the lower local government politicians regarding the exercise.

Isa Ben Abubakali, the chairperson III of Sikuda sub county in Busia district says much as they're ever with the locals, they have no information to give out.

" For my case, I was just called to open the training of enumerators which i did but without any information pertaining the program. This is going to make the exercise have several challenges. The ministry would have considered equipping us first with rightful information regarding the program since we're ever with the locals. But it's not too late, let the ministry involve us for the success of this program " Abubakali, the village boss said.

Emmanuel Eduki, another chairperson III of Buteba sub county in Busia confirmed to Nile post how the program is already failing in his area. He revealed that during the recruitment of enumerators, several villages within his sub county failed to register any applicant for the job due to inadequate information and they had to import people from out side the sub county.

Eduki also alleges that most of the people recruited in most sub counties to manage the exercise lucks technical knowledge about the job.

" If you look at the way how the exercise is being handled, you really see no success. They first trained the Parish Chiefs then it's the Parish Chiefs now training the enumerators and supervisors yet most of these Parish Chiefs do not know even computers" Eduki explained

These now suggest that for government to have the exercise successful, training of the district politicians right from village to district should be considered. This is in addition to extending the period given for the exercise.
